 Meet John Dougherty – Author Extraordinaire!

Step into the wild and wonderfully wacky world of John Dougherty! With his larger-than-life performance style, he’ll bring his hilarious books There’s a Pig Up My Nose and Zooming the Zoo to life in a session packed with laughter, surprises, and imaginative chaos. Expect high energy, plenty of audience participation, and storytelling that will delight readers of all ages.

Join us at 2:00pm in St Katherine’s Square for our Best Dressed Competition, where we’ll celebrate the most creative and imaginative book-inspired costumes. The lucky winner will receive Lakefest tickets — an incredible prize for any festival fan.

We’re thrilled to announce that judging will be led by Lee Martin, founder of Lakefest and author of Festival of Love and Pain**. Lee will also be signing copies of his book, so feel free to bring yours along for a special autograph.

Looby Lou will be offering free face painting throughout the day — no booking required. Simply turn up, get creative, and transform into your favourite literary character!

🐑 Create Clay Characters with Aardman

Join the team behind iconic characters like Shaun the Sheep, Gromit, and Feathers McGraw in this hands-on clay modelling workshop.

Learn expert tips and tricks as you shape your own imaginative creations and discover how these beloved characters are brought to life.

📖 Storytime with Heather

Enjoy a lively, interactive storytime session with Heather, followed by creative activities including mask making, drawing, and dancing. A perfect way to spark young imaginations and encourage a love of stories.

🇸🇪 Swedish Storytelling: Adventures with Emil

Travel back to early 1900s Sweden with tales of Emil, the mischievous young character created by Astrid Lindgren. Experience the magic of these timeless adventures and take part in accompanying activities that bring the stories vividly to life.


✏️ Get Creative with Art, Poetry & Storytelling

Be inspired by John Masefield’s poem The West Winds as you decorate your own cardboard “Wordy Bird.” You’ll also create a mini story box filled with characters, places, and surprises — perfect for inventing playful new tales of your own.

🌊 Masefield Matters with Imaginellie

Join our magical storyteller Imaginellie to discover the adventures of a Ledbury boy who went to sea and later became the King’s Poet. Bring along your Wordy Birds to complete the experience. Free tea, coffee, and biscuits will be served — everyone is welcome.
