Ledbury Town Council joins ‘Poppies to Paddington’ Remembrance Tribute

This morning, the Chairman of Ledbury Town Council, Councillor Elizabeth Harvey, took part in Great Western Railway’s Poppies to Paddington project, a special Remembrance tribute marking Armistice Day.

As part of GWR’s Railway 200 celebrations, this year’s initiative also commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the vital role the railways played during wartime. Communities across the Great Western network were invited to contribute wreaths, which travelled by train to London Paddington to be laid at the station’s War Memorial during a national Remembrance service.

Councillor Harvey represented the Ledbury community by handing over a wreath at Ledbury Station, to be laid at London Paddington Station, ensuring the town was part of this collective Act of Remembrance and gratitude.

This marks the sixth year of the Poppies to Paddington initiative, which began during the COVID-19 pandemic when traditional remembrance ceremonies were not possible.
