Citizen of the Year 2025-26 Announced at Ledbury Annual Parish Meeting

Ledbury Town Council was delighted to welcome residents, community groups, and local organisations to the Annual Parish Meeting held on Thursday, 30 April at the Burgage Hall.

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to engage with a range of local community groups, who hosted informative stands showcasing their recent activities and ongoing contributions to the town. Among those in attendance were the Ledbury & Stromstad Twinning Association, Friends of the Children’s Centre, and the Scouts, all of whom play a vital role in strengthening community spirit and supporting local initiatives.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Citizen of the Year Award 2025/26, which was awarded to Nina Shields. Nominated by Elizabeth Clarke, Nina was recognised for her enthusiasm and dedication to the Ledbury community through her tireless work with local groups and charities. Her contributions span a wide range of areas, including local government, education, environmental sustainability, and heritage, making her a truly deserving recipient of this honour.  The presentation was made by the Chairman, Councillor Havey.

The meeting also celebrated the contributions of Ledbury’s Children’s Ambassadors. The Ambassadors were introduced by Councillor Hughes as the President of the Ledbury Carnival, who thank the Ambassadors and their families for their work over the past 12 months in representing their peers at numerous civic and social events across the town. In recognition of their efforts, each Ambassador was presented with a copy of John Masefield’s Saltwater Ballads by the Chairman, Councillor Harvey.

Ledbury Town Council extends its thanks to all who attended and contributed to the success of the evening and looks forward to continuing its work alongside residents and community groups to support and enhance life in Ledbury.
