Music Workshop
Music Workshop - 5th December 2026 2pm to 4pm at Ledbury Heritage Centre
Ledbury Places is proud to be hosting a talented young musician, Alf Steward, on Saturday 5th December 2026.
The workshop is open to everyone, but could be of particular interest to young people, possibly those thinking about becoming a musician, perhaps those already playing a stringed instrument, or even those with a passion to discover a new instrument. The workshop will showcase the magic of stringed instruments, their music and how they are made.
Alf is a local cellist who until recently was the Leader of the Hereford Youth Orchestra and member of the National Youth Folk Ensemble. He is now studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, which is rated as amongst the top 5 music schools in the world and globally amongst the top 10 for the performing arts.
Alf will play a variety of pieces to illustrate the wide range of genre suited to the cello. In a workshop style there will also be plenty of opportunity to discuss Alf’s musical journey, share your own insights and expand your knowledge of the world of music.
Alf will then be joined by local craftsman and acoustic guitar maker, Stuart Houghton, who will give an illustrated talk and demonstration about the craft of making classical stringed instruments.
Tickets: £5. https://www.ticketsource.com/ledbury-places/t-plopjqa
