DAMAGE TO WILD FLOWERS IN DOG HILL WOODS

Ledbury Town Council have been made aware of the destruction to wild flowers in Dog Hill Woods.

The Council is taking the very seriously as under Schedule 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is unlawful to intentionally pick, uproot or destroy the wild plant or any seed or spore attached to the wild plant. In any proceedings the plant will be deemed to be wild unless the contrary is shown.

We would like to advise residents this work was not carried out by Ledbury Town Council, but at this stage we are unsure as to who is responsible or why this has happened. We are currently looking into this and have been provided with some information that may prove helpful in our investigations.

We will provide a further update once we have more information.
